Great way to start the year, hopefully I'll keep it up!! Went to south Queensferry with the bridges as our target for the day, we stayed out in the cold for about 3 hours to get the fading light and finally took shots at night time. I feel I probably say that all the time but this spot has to be my favourite in the area, these bridges and the rail one in particular are absolutely spectacular :)

Tripod, backpack, filters and gloves necessary accessories :)

Good day out in Edinburgh, we were lucky enough to go there early morning to avoid the crowds :) We didn't exactly succeed but queueing at the attractions was still much faster than I though it would be. Fantastic weather, sunshine and blue sky despite the cold!

_DSC0294_DSC0294 Wood Fired OvenWood Fired Oven _DSC0344_DSC0344 I've been lucky enough to witness an old tradition being restored when away on holiday. This man (my father-in-law) MADE FIRE !!!

They had this oven restored some years ago and they use it once in a while (specifically to bake / cook lots of food for big occasions). We were celebrating someone's birthday with around 40 people and decided that bread, chickens, sausages, patés, desserts .. etc should all go in there for the party :)

It took about 90 minutes for the oven to heat up and it was absolutely captivating to watch the whole process. Strangely enough I think fire and water, even though strict opposites, are 2 of the most fascinating elements to watch, I must have stayed around 2 hours taking photos (in the region of 300 + shots).

That was on a friday, the oven was still hot on the sunday afternoon!

Pitlochry - Killin climbs ...

Day 1: Ben Y Vrackie near Pitlochry
Weather was not great and rain was expected everywhere !! in the afternoon so we decided to head up early: 7am !!!
Got to the start of Ben Y Vrackie @ 9am. Misty hills everywhere but it's still beautiful  Once at the top, we couldn't see anything but we met Brian, from Perth, who was here for the 34th time this year only !! Hill climbing seems to be his afternoon walk  Anyway, Brian told us that the McKye Pub down in Pitlochry offers free beer to climbers who can prove they have reached the top. So we got him to take a picture of us. We went back down our separate ways and met back at the pub for a free beer  The staff's Tshirt says Climbed It, Drank It, Loved It  And we even got a free badge. (Offer's only on Saturday  )

Day 2: Sron a'Chlachain and Creag Buidhe, near Killin.

Much better weather, very sunny and actually warm for hill climbing. We had sore legs from yesterday and decide for a smaller walk. Didn't realise it was short but strenuous and very steep
Anyway, what matters is the reward: no free beer today but fantastic views from up there. A great end to a great weekend
