It's all about catching the light isn't it? This week-end started last friday with me receiving my new Tamron 18-200mm lens. I was in the office and the first person who came to my desk got the photo treatment :) Ian, my colleague and good friend, was good enough to stand there and smile so I put him in the box.

On saturday I went outside for about 2 and a half hours to test the lens in better fashion and I've got to say I'm quite happy with the results. The lens catches the light and the colours much better than some previous kit I've owned before. Not being able to afford the Nikon version of that lens (at an absolute extortionate price of over £500) I settled for this £129.99 one so needless to say I was relieved it produces good results :)

On Sunday, after watching the Australian Open Grand Slam tennis final between Djokovic and Murray, my better half was kind enough to cook an amazing three tomatoes and basilic risotto (see picture).. I took this one with the wee P340 but the macro shots are usually best using this one especially if you lack proper time set up the dishes and prep the food for picture-perfect opportunities .. just turn the dishes to good daylight if available and you should be ok. It seemed to have worked as I posted this on Twitter and immediately got a notification from TheNeeds - see link

Quick walk in the afternoon to the Wilderness woods next to Bellsquarry and quite literally a stone's throw away from the house - see last photograph. Amazing setting light in the woods
